What Is Righteousness?

There are two basic meanings to righteousness as it is used in Proverbs and throughout the scriptures:

The first is being in a right relationship with God. When we are right with God by grace ad through faith, it provides the foundation for right living.

The second is heading in the right direction. It does not indicate perfection, but direction. The general direction of our lives is toward God and God's will and we are ready and able to be taught, guided, and corrected.

Those two factors constitute the qualities of a righteous man or woman.
